For years, Belimo has been committed to using knowledge transfer to facilitate training and education within the organisation, so that employees and customers alike can consolidate their knowledge of the HVAC sector in order to develop expertise and excellence in building automation.
For this reason, the company has expanded its service and logistics centre in Großröhrsdorf, near Dresden, to include an additional Belimo Experience Center to provide on-site training.
We always aim to make theory and practice easy to understand and come alive!
Here, just 30 minutes from Dresden, you can see Belimo's field devices under real operating conditions. A range of exhibits will show you the latest actuator, valve, sensor, and communication technologies in action.
The focus of the equipment here is on:
1) Indoor air quality and comfort
2) Sustainability (or energy efficiency/energy saving)
3) Safety
We demonstrate these using the customer-focused CESIM® method, which ensures that our "small" Belimo products have a big impact on Comfort, Energy, Safety, Installation, and Maintenance in the global HVAC system structure.

In addition to the thematically related areas, there are two modern training rooms, each of which can accommodate up to 16 people. These rooms allow knowledge to be imparted in a pleasant atmosphere where the well-being of our visitors is also taken into account.
The generous glass surfaces and impressive ceiling heights in our rooms, harmoniously situated between the production hall and the green outdoor area, create seamless transitions, are flooded with natural daylight, and provide a comfortable learning atmosphere.

Comfort Zone
The air we breathe impacts our health and productivity. The precise control of airflow is therefore of crucial importance in every occupied zone.
In our Comfort Zone room, we demonstrate to our visitors:
- How well-designed variable air volume (VAV) ventilation systems ensure that the right amount of fresh air is supplied and that contaminated air is removed from the room in a controlled manner;
- The importance of a precise measurement of temperature, relative humidity, CO2, and VOC by our product range of active and passive sensors as well as room operating units;
- How a Belimo Energy Manifold enables reliable energy distribution, while at the same time using proven Belimo ball valve technology to control individual zones.

Fire & Smoke Simulator
Experience a simulated fire and smoke scenario in our fire protection and smoke control room. The video animation, sound, and heat development have been coordinated to create an immersive feeling of being right in the middle of the action. And you experience the benefit of effective fire & smoke solutions with Belimo products.

The Workshop
Our ventilation system, specially designed for the Cube, makes it possible to:
- Learn about the structure and operation of each component;
- See the role of field devices in optimising system performance;
- Get to know our field devices in a playful way with an interactive demo wall.
You can also visit our AHU Lab to build on the knowledge you have gained.

Hands-On Area
We use the Hands-On Area to demonstrate a number of different system components. We place particular emphasis on visualising the added value and working principles of our field devices in buildings as they are used in everyday practice.
Whether you are new to HVAC or an experienced professional, Hands-On training guarantees exciting and varied learning sessions for all levels on a range of topics in air and water applications, such as:
- How our solutions deliver both thermal comfort and energy savings at comparatively low investment costs;
- The different responses of pressure-independent and pressure-dependent valves;
- The differences between static, adaptive, or dynamic hydronic balancing;
- Familiarisation with the complete functionality and configuration of the Belimo Energy Valve™ and of the electronic pressure-independent characterised control valve (EPIV);
- A reduction of pump output thanks to our valves;
- And much more.
AHU Lab
AHU Lab
Healthy indoor air has a significant impact on our well-being, performance, and health. Air handling units ensure that the parameters required for healthy indoor air, e.g. temperature, relative air humidity, and CO2 content, are maintained.
Our AHU Lab provides customers with a practical insight into the working principles of air handling units and their individual components, as well as a comprehensive overview of all our application-specific field devices. To this end, we have created a holistic system consisting of three fully-fledged air handling units and three application-specific room zones. This intrinsically closed system can be individually adjusted, allowing different operating states to be approached and investigated.

AHU Test
The focus of the AHU Lab is our air handling unit AHU Test, which features the following highlights:
- Heating, cooling, humidifying, and dehumidifying to control all the important parameters for healthy indoor air;
- Replacement of the HRS unit (HRS plate, KVS, rotor) through modular construction;
- Simulation of specific system states, e.g. HRS icing, filter contamination.

AHU Weather
Our AHU Weather air handling unit enables us to demonstrate relevant application cases throughout the year. To this end, it can simulate outside air conditions within the following limit values and prepare the AHU Test:
- -5°C with 95% relative humidity (winter conditions)
- 35°C with 55% relative humidity (summer conditions)

AHU Thermal Load
People and devices in the building create additional climatic thermal loads by emitting heat and moisture.
Our AHU thermal load air handling unit allows the targeted simulation of such thermal loads and provides them for the AHU Test on the exhaust side.

Zones
The application of demand-controlled room zone controls is essential to ensure healthy indoor air while optimising the energy efficiency of air handling units. Variable volumetric flow controllers (VAV) play a central role in this process. Our laboratory contains three independently accessible room zones, in which we demonstrate the efficient use of VAVs in different areas of application in various practical scenarios.
As well as gaining theoretical knowledge, our visitors can experience the effects up close, as follows:Zone 1 – Room temperature control and learning about the technical capabilities of our room operating units, including configuration and commissioning.
Zone 2 – Use of the Belimo ZoneEase™ VAV for regulating the CO2 content of the indoor air.
Zone 3 – Experience with the utilisation options of VAVs to create defined pressure conditions in rooms (e.g. clean rooms, operating theatres).
RetroFIT+
Property investors and developers in Germany and Europe are facing major climate policy challenges in relation to the 2050 climate targets.
With our RetroFIT+ approach, we show how:
- Existing HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) can be upgraded and improved;

Digital ecosystem
The networking of building technology systems enhances comfort, safety and transparency in air-conditioned buildings. Thanks to this transparency, operation can be optimised and overall energy consumption reduced – in new systems as well as in retrofitting or renovation projects. Experience how Belimo field devices can be networked throughout a building and how an unlimited amount of data can be exchanged between the various bus participants over the same physical lines.
