Belimo joins Eurovent as a corresponding member
Belimo formally joined Eurovent - Europe’s industry association for Indoor Climate (HVAC), Process Cooling, and Food Cold Chain Technology - as a corresponding member in November 2022. As members of associations like Eurovent, we - together with other market players - can actively influence and shape industry norms, standards, and regulations that will impact us in the future.
A major benefit of being a member of associations like Eurovent is the opportunity to network and exchange with others on trends in our industry. At Belimo, we want to contribute our expertise and actively work with other members and associations to tackle current energy savings, sustainability, and safety challenges and drive them forward with good examples and initiatives.
Eurovent product group Air Handling Units
Oliver Topf, senior team leader Air Handling Units at Belimo, represents us in the Eurovent product group "Air Handling Units (AHU)." The Eurovent AHU product group covers air handling units for non-residential purposes. It deals with air handling units and their components (e.g., air filters, energy recovery components, fans), often in cooperation with the specialist Eurovent product groups that cover specific components. It is the largest working group of air handling unit manufacturers worldwide. Eurovent member associations on a national level support it. The group’s key tasks involve advocating for European and national legislative initiatives on the subject, developing EN, ISO, and Eurovent standards, general promotion of the industry and export initiatives, and diminishing unfair trade barriers inside and outside Europe.
Eurovent task force on Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
Mark Schneider, Head of Group Sustainability at Belimo, represents us in the newly formed Eurovent task force on Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). The task force’s objective - which spreads across all product groups - is to work on the calculation and disclosure of the environmental performance of HVACR products.
"Being part of the task force allows us to actively influence and shape the work done on the EPD topic. There is currently no standardised EPD approach for HVACR products. As a task force, we aim to address this gap and harmonise the different approaches which have emerged to create a level playing field, increase confidence, and reduce the burden for manufacturers like us." says Mark Schneider.
More about the Environmental Product Declaration
EPDs are standardised documents used to communicate the potential environmental impacts and benefits of products throughout their life cycles based on quantitative Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) analysis. Today, EPDs are required for products in building projects, which are designed and built in line with international green building certification schemes, such as LEED, BREEAM or DGNB. EPD will likely become mandatory for all new buildings across the EU as of 2030, according to the proposed revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
Belimo and industry associations
Our current and potential customers are members of Eurovent. Being an active member and contributor in associations is one way to be close to our customers and find out what is on their minds and their needs. Being represented in associations, such as Eurovent, EU.bac, EVIA, and Rehva, shows that we, at Belimo want to actively shape the future of our industry norms and standards in Europe.
